New socks. Two socks. Whose socks? Sue's socks.

Daisy has about 45 pairs of socks at any one given time (& 17 singletons) so like a good re-cycler I've always passed them down to the boys. I do weed out the pink & frilly ones or otherwise they'd be wise to my game a long time ago. But hearts, butterflies, they ok. There was a small bit of guilt when they'd toddle off to kindergarten in their navy blue socks with red ladybugs. But mostly I felt pure unabashed pride & love at their sweet innocence.

Ben was sporting a nice mint green pair the other day, plain except for a word along the bottom. As he sat at the edge of his bed & ripped them off, he suddenly stopped & stared at the letters. "Mommy, what does this say?" "That? Um, that says...Barbie." "MOMMY! These are GIRLS socks!". He then told on me to Jack & each day since they have painstakingly perused their socks for any signs of femininity. So much for gender neutrality. And now I have to go buy new socks.

I took an extra strength Midol & now have to either pass out or barf. Toodles!

Girls socks, bah, that's nothing. My parents made me use a hand-me-down Jem sleeping bag for two years. Jem, do any of you remember that? "Showtime, Synergy!" ... I think I'm gonna throw up :(

Bug is still young enough that he lets me paint his toenails bright red. I ache knowing the day will come when he realizes this isn't socially acceptable for little boys. Either that, or hubs is just going to kill me when Bug becomes a drag queen or cross dresser.

That's too funny. I did the same thing with my older girl and younger boy. I'm not sure he ever caught on though.

There are times when you want them to learn to read...... and then times when you say "Drat! Why do they have to be so clever?"

That was such a funny post! I'm still smiling!

Ha - sucks when they can spell, doesn't it? Just a few months ago, I was at the doctor's office with my son and I asked "so does he need any S-H-O-T's?" 20 seconds later, he pipes up "HEY! I don't need SHOTS!!"
